The Mixtecs, as the 61 other indigenous peoples of Mexico, seek to revisit their traditional knowledge in order to adapt to modern needs. Some Mixtec communities have incorporated the use of new materials, like plastic, to their traditional folk art in order to ensure greater product durability, while keeping the ancient practice of palm weaving alive.
