In Pinotepa de Don Luis, a coastal Oaxacan village, gourds can be found everywhere : on the patio of each house, on the streets or on the surrounding plantations. These spherical fruits are mainly used as liquid container or kitchenware. The creative faculty of its inhabitants made it possible to form reliefs from the gourds; the imagination and skill of each craftsman has allowed them to express on their surfaces a particular aesthetic and symbolism of diverse fauna and flora.
