The richness of the Mayan textile reflects a historical testimony of an ancestral culture; as a vehicle for transmitting an identity through designs and symbols that hold meanings; as a utilitarian object that shows us aspects of everyday life and, finally, as pieces of art with their own aesthetics that require great technique and creativity.

Originally, pompoms were part of Tzotzil clothing, men and women still use them in hats, sashes or to braid hair. Our pompoms are made by skilled crafswomen from Chiapas who have adapted their know how to the tourism sector to create colorful and purely decorative objects.
